Hi!
I recently participated in a 5k run/walk event. But I want to start from where or how a found about it and decided to join the event.
The 5k event was this past weekend; but the weekend before I was in a community event there was this booth about running for people in need of food. So I decided to stop by and ask. I knew beforehand about the event. I just wanted to talk and know more about it in person. The person on command talk briefly about the event and gave me a registration paper and then she say: ” For participating in the community event this time if you registered today you can use this code for no fee”. Wait! What? I was so excited I came home and I registered. Without training at all. Without running that distance in almost 3 yrs. Just like that I registered for the 5k event. I was very excited, motivated and a little bit nervous to run and participate in an event.
I just started running on april again so for me this is huge distance because my average distance is around 0.50mi to 1.00mi. So Can you imagine how nervous I was? In a scale 1/100 I was 120 haha.
**I want to take a moment before continuing with the recap and say Thank You to all the people how encourage me and send me positive vibes on the post where I announce that I was participating in the 5k event. It felt so nice having the support of all of you the virtual family. Thanks again!
Recap:
Let’s start…
I arrived at 7:50am a little late but it was okay. I went by myself and straight to the start/finish line. They gave the protocol before starting and the more they talk the more my anxiety high up. I was nervous but I wasn’t demonstrating it.
At 8:02am they 5k start I was very confident with the route I begin to run everything was fine trying to skip the walking pals then it hit me hard just before the 1.00 mile. I was like omg! my pace was fast and my legs hurt but I need to keep moving. Then I stop running and start walking but I wanted to run so I started running and then again I need to stop but this time was my breathing. So I walked a little more, then I became desperate when it hit the 2.68mi mark. I was like “come on, you can run” but when I start running I don’t know what happen that I couldn’t keep up so I start doing interval 2 minutes running 2 minutes walk. Trying to reach the finish line. When I get there I see the timer It was very hard to realize the time you did. It wasn’t what you expect. But Come on I didn’t train for this event. It was amazing seeing all that people running for a good cause, and helping others. Overall I think I’m doing it again next year!! Oh YEAH! But this time I’m training for it!
5k run/walk Results:
00:50:40 min
16:19 pace
Overall 323rd of 523
Female: 181st of 329
F. 30-39: 30th of 53
About the results:
The time it wasn’t what I expect but I accept it because I know I did my best.
The pace for run/walk I think it was great.
Overall/female/and female age group it was amazing.
This 5k event was my slowest one ever but not my last.
So I will keep training for my next!
Thanks for visiting!
